Join the City of Shelbyville for a guided Nature Walk on the Knauf Greenway on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 9:00 AM as part of the inaugural TrailMixer Festival.
The Knauf Greenway is a paved, wheelchair-accessible trail designed for all users. Amenities include free bike share access, a bike maintenance station for personal bicycles, restrooms, a water station, and an on-site parking lot.
Kris Schwickrath, Landscape and Greenspace Coordinator, will lead the walk and provide insight into the area’s native habitats, plant life, and local wildlife. Participants will also encounter curated signage along the trail to help identify birds and species that contribute to Shelbyville’s designation as Indiana’s first “Birdtown County.”
Attendees are encouraged to extend their experience by continuing onto the connected Blue River Trail, including the Solar System Trail—a scaled educational installation representing planetary distance.
Parking is available on-site. Overflow parking is located at the Shelby County Tourism & Visitor’s Bureau, 501 N Harrison Street.
No registration required. All ages and abilities are welcome.
